Vid Auction - FAQ and call for vidders

In response to the events endangering medical autonomy in the United States, our auction will be to raise funds for National Network of Abortion Funds. This organization supports those seeking abortion - both in the U.S. and internationally. You can read more about abortion funds here and you can follow them on AbortionFunds

Vidder's sign up form
Please use the form below to offer a vid in the womansplace auction. Feel free to be as specific or as vague in your vidding preferences as you'd like. Keep in mind that you are outlining what a bidder can expect should they win your auction.

Vid offers should be focused on characters who identify as women or who are aligned with womanhood. Please use your best judgement when dealing with non-binary characters.

Important Dates
July 23. Vidder sign-ups close.
July 24. Bidding commences. Auction details for each vidder will be posted to the community as a bidding page.
July 31. Auction closes. Donations will be confirmed over the course of a couple days and coordination between vidder and bidder can be finalized.
October 30. Vids to be completed and posted to our moderated (unrevealed) collection on AO3.
November 6. Reveals and Vid Shows

FYI - Vidders will not be required to make a vid for a specific song or for a fandom/character not listed in the offer. Most vidders welcome song suggestions and it can certainly be a collaborative effort, but bidders will be asked to provide alternatives when needed.

I mostly like making teamy vids, recruitment vids, friendship vids, or character vids. I tend to gravitate towards upbeat themes and music.

I'm open to musical genre and suggestions, but find I'm not too keen on vidding metal or rap (love vids with those genres, but the number of times I replay songs when vidding is mildly embarrassing).
I would love you to provide 2-3 song suggestions or if you only have a particular character + theme in mind I can go with that, too.

Things I can't vid: Rape, graphic violence to women (general action sequences are fine).

- I'm generally very cool with vidding to long songs, but for comics vids I will have to either use a song under four minutes, or edit the song down to that length.

- For multifandom vids, I'm open to requests for topics that would use sources outside my listed fandoms, but not for topics that are specific to fandoms outside my list. So, for example, "a vid celebrating the queer women of American sitcoms" is great, and I'd even be happy to take suggestions of characters/shows to include. But "a vid comparing Eleanor Shellstrop and Rosa Diaz" is something I can't do. If you have an idea and you're not sure whether it fits these guidelines, feel free to message me before bidding!

Xena: Warrior Princess -- any character and/or pairing, ensemble, meta, just vibes, etc. Happy to do pretty much anything Xena related (except requiring source audio, because my clip library doesn't have audio). If it's useful, here are my current half-baked Xena vid ideas: a humourous vid about Xena getting harassed by her exes; a Justice for Akemi vid; and a Lao Ma/ M'Lila vidlet.

Studio Ghibli films, especially Princess Mononoke, My Neighbor Totoro, Ponyo, Spirited Away, or Howl's Moving Castle. There are lots of Studio Ghibli films I haven't seen but I'm open to seeing them. I'm not really a fan of the canon hetships in these films so I would want to de-emphasise those in my vids.

Steven Universe, open to anything but especially interested in vidding Amethyst, Pearl, or Connie.

Buffy the Vampire Slayer -- I would require a concept that only works with a slice of the source, for example a vid focussing on a specific season, a specific set of episodes, or a secondary character such as Cordelia, Tara, Anya, Dawn, or Faith.

Nirvana In Fire -- I haven't vidded this before either, and though I have the source I would appreciate help locating specific clips if you opt for this one! I would especially love to make a vid about Consort Jing or Banruo.
