Hello!! And welcome to [community profile] womansplace!!
All supporters of women and those who align as such are welcome. Details about current happenings here can be found in the community profile.

On January 22, 1973, the Supreme Court issued a 7–2 decision holding that the Due Process Clause of the Fourteenth Amendment to the United States Constitution provides a fundamental "right to privacy", which protects a pregnant woman's right to an abortion.
This court decision has not been codified (ie. backed up with legislation) and has been under attack ever since.
On June 24, 2022, the Supreme Court overruled Roe in Dobbs v. Jackson Women's Health Organization.

Our current call to action (call to auction?) is to raise funds for National Network of Abortion Funds [twitter.com profile] AbortionFunds.
You can read more about abortion funds here or watch the video below to find out more.

What other organizations do you recommend for their work in supporting women? It does not need to be abortion related. Are there organizations help women who experience domestic abuse? How about immigration resources that uplift women in some way? What organizations are working at the intersection of women and other marginalized groups? What about other women's health issues?

Please leave a comment with the name of the resource, what they do, and a link so others can learn more.

NEW for 2023 - If you'd like to include an additional option with your vid offer, please let details about the organization here. One of the key missions of the organization must be in support of women. Donations must be able to be submitted internationally.
Please no religious organizations (not that religious groups are wholistically good or bad, but I don't want to moderate such nuances in a community like this).

The TransLatin@ Coalition is an organization providing support for trans, gender-nonconforming, and intersex Latines in the Los Angeles area. While not exclusively woman-focused in their outreach, the founders of the group are transfeminine Latina immigrants who started the group to provide aid for others in similar situations (and now expand slightly broader to encompass trans Latine immigrants of other genders).
