Fandom: Harry Potter
Fanwork type: Fic
Pairings/Characters: Hermione Granger/Draco Malfoy, Luna Lovegood/Blaise Zabini, Gregory Goyle/Astoria Greengrass
Rating and/or Content Warnings: Mature
Links: Lady of the Lake (Ao3) | FFN by
Colubrina
Summary: Hermione and Draco team up after the war to overthrow the Order and take over wizarding Britain. They have plans and they'll get power, but the cost of victory may be higher than they expected and more than they can bear.
Reccer's Note: Okay, first of all I want to say that this fic doesn't stick very closely to canon characterization, and isn't something that I can see naturally flowing out of the ending of the Harry Potter series unless you interpret things very darkly. Now that's out of the way, it's a fascinating take on a dark!Hermione who carries out a fascistic coup of the government, portrayed in just enough of a sympathetic light to make the reader wonder whether her actions are really that bad (they are). It makes a very strong point about propaganda and the way that power corrupts.
